Anthony Solem to Lead Santa Clara Family Health Plan Cal MediConnect Program

Campbell, CA – October 07, 2014 – Anthony Solem has been named Chief Medicare Officer for Santa Clara Family Health Plan (SCFHP) where he will oversee all aspects of the Cal MediConnect program, including strategy, administration and operations. The Cal MediConnect program begins accepting members in January 2015 and is designed to promote coordinated health care delivery to people enrolled in both Medicare and Medi‑Cal.

“The launch of the Cal MediConnect program is a milestone for Californians, especially those dual eligible beneficiaries who have multiple chronic health conditions and rely on an array of specialty health care and long-term services and supports,” said SCFHP CEO Elizabeth Darrow. “We are thrilled to have Anthony join SCFHP to lead this new initiative. Anthony’s proven expertise in managed care, specifically Medicare managed care, brings the leadership and focus to ensure a successful implementation and ongoing support and oversight of this very important program.”

Mr. Solem brings over 22 years of managed care experience to Santa Clara Family Health Plan, having successfully expanded Medicare programs in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas as Executive Director for UnitedHealthcare Group. Previously, Mr. Solem was President and CEO of First Plan of Minnesota where he led the non-profit community HMO for seven years. As Claims Director for Managed Care Solutions, Mr. Solem led start-up operations for new Medicare plans in multiple states. He holds an MBA from Arizona State University and a BBA from University of North Dakota.
