United Ways & Health Plan of San Joaquin (HPSJ) Employees Conclude 2016 Fundraising
Reaching $395,000 Raised Over 18 Years

(French Camp, CA) – Health Plan of San Joaquin (HPSJ) employees, in partnership with United Ways (UW) in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties, contributed a combined $37,392 for the just-ended 2016 UW campaign. For HPSJ, a not-for-profit managed care health plan which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary serving local families, this is the latest in a long tradition where HPSJ employees step up and out, on behalf of members and communities. During the past 18 years, HPSJ employees have raised $395,000.

“Much of this always comes from office fundraising drives, everything from barbecue and bake sales, a silent auction and wear-your-jeans-to-work-days,” said HPSJ External Affairs vice president David Hurst, a member of the United Way of San Joaquin County board of directors. “In addition to the fun engagement activities, most of the support comes from ongoing contributions that employees designate from their pay checks – one of the very best kinds of personal philanthropy,” he added.

For the 2016 campaign year, HPSJ employees in French Camp raised $29,492, while HPSJ’s Modesto- based employees raised $7,926. HPSJ recently expanded its Modesto presence in Stanislaus County; this was the first United Way/HPSJ employee team effort in Modesto.

“Today, HPSJ serves over 347,000 members – over 123,000 just in Stanislaus County,” said HPSJ chief financial officer Michelle Tetreault, a member of the United Way Stanislaus County board of directors. “To serve our growing membership, in 2015 we expanded our full-service operations in downtown Modesto. This past May, we completed our two-part worksite space expansion here in Modesto, and we were pleased to be able to bring our staff’s enthusiasm for United Way to the local Stanislaus campaign,” she added.
