Alameda, CA – Alameda Alliance for Health
(Alliance), the local health plan that serves more than 330,000
Alameda County residents, announced today the retirement of Mr.
Scott Coffin, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective May 31,
2023. Mr. Coffin has served as CEO since early 2015, focused on
leading the organization out of state conservatorship and
transforming the operations into sustainability.
SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, the Local Health Plans
of California (LHPC) announced the appointment of Inland Empire
Health Plan (IEHP) CEO Jarrod McNaughton as chair of its Board of
Directors, CenCal Health CEO Marina Owen as vice chair, and Santa
Clara Family Health Plan (SCFHP) CEO Christine M. Tomcala as
treasurer. Their two-year term begins in January 2023.
McNaughton succeeds Liz Gibboney, CEO of Partnership Health Plan
of California, who has served as board chair since January 2021.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Oct. 6, 2022 – CenCal Health, the community health plan for Medi-Cal in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, received high marks in two respected professional health care assessments– the national Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®), and the state-wide report on Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®). With results released in 2022, the findings in both annual audits concluded that, in multiple categories, CenCal Health and its providers delivered exceptional care to child members, as well as members that are new mothers and members with diabetes.
LOS ANGELES – L.A. Care Health Plan is proud to announce that it
has awarded $500,000 to Plunum Health, a nonprofit that
assists health centers in under-resourced communities enhance
their efficiency and patient satisfaction. The L.A. Care grant
will support the launch of the new Plunum Health Care
Transformation Program at three health centers in Los Angeles
County – Eisner Health, Saban Community Clinic, and Venice Family
Health Center. All three centers serve L.A. Care members.

three managed care plans.
Bakersfield, CA: Kern Health Systems (KHS) has
awarded more than $14 million in California Department of Health
Care Services (DHCS) incentive funds to network providers and
community organizations through the CalAIM Incentive Payment
Program (IPP). The incentives were awarded to organizations
throughout Kern County by Kern Health Systems, which administers
Medi-Cal benefits to more than #340,000 members in our community.

position as Chief Customer Experience Officer (CXO) at CenCal
Health, the Medi-Cal managed care plan for Santa
Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. In this position, she will
provide strategic leadership for the management of relationships
with members, providers, and community partners to ensure the
long-term growth and success of these key partnerships.
Bakersfield, CA: Kern Health Systems is proud to
announce that over $400,000 was awarded to seven public schools
and seventy-two community organizations in Kern County to
implement both school-based and community-based programs
throughout the 2022-2023 calendar year.

authorizes the Department of Health Care Services to enter into a
statewide Medi-Cal contract with Kaiser Permanente.

current Kern Health Systems CEO announced his retirement
effective July 6th, 2022. Mr. Hayward has served as CEO since
January 2012. During his leadership, Kern Health Systems through
Kern Family Health Care, grew approximately 300% to where today

ORANGE, Calif. (March 21, 2022) — The CalOptima
Board of Directors unanimously approved a new vision for Medi-Cal
member services that will change the delivery of health care for
nearly 880,000 Orange County residents. The five-year strategic
vision aims to remove barriers to health care access for members
by implementing same-day treatment authorizations and real-time
claims payments for providers, and annually assessing members’
social determinants of health.

ORANGE, Calif. (March 8, 2022) — Considering
increasing food prices and the continued impact of the pandemic,
CalOptima has identified that more than 340,000 members may be
eligible to access nutritious foods by enrolling in CalFresh,
which provides monthly food benefits for eligible low-income
people. In a unique collaboration to increase CalFresh
membership, CalOptima is working with the County of Orange Social
Services Agency (SSA) to streamline the enrollment process
through an improved phone line transfer between the agencies.
ORANGE, Calif. (March 4, 2022) — The CalOptima
Board of Directors has appointed interim CEO Michael Hunn as
permanent CEO of the public agency, effective March 3. Hunn had
been serving as interim CEO since November 2021 following the
retirement of Richard Sanchez, who had served as an interim and
then permanent CEO of CalOptima since April 2020.
South San Francisco, CA (February 10,
2022) – The San Mateo Health Commission
has announced that Patrick
Curran will serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the
Health Plan of San Mateo (HPSM). Curran will be succeeding Maya
Altman, who led HPSM as CEO from 2005 until her retirement at the
end of 2021.
SAN FRANCISCO, February 8 , 2022 – The Governing
Board of the San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP) has announced
that Yolanda Richardson, currently the Secretary of the
California Government Operations Agency, will succeed John
F. Grgurina, Jr., as Chief Executive Officer,
effective April 4, 2022.
